Chips weren't the first food item I expected to go high-protein, but here we are: Question Tortilla Style Protein Chips, Ranch Flavor.

Despite the occasional weird grainy protein after-taste, the chips tasted good. This surprised me, as I did not expect protein chips to get me coming back for more. Although this flavor in particular did not taste like ranch, they tasted more like sour cream and onion flavored chips in my opinion.

Macros

The macros are pretty solid. 140 calories to 19 grams of protein beats their own protein bar which I thought was interesting. The calorie count is low because there is not much fat or carbohydrates in this product; only high protein. Because of this, keto dieters should keep in mind that this product is keto-friendly, but it does not match the macro percentages of the keto diet. This is true for a lot of protein supplements, you will still need your fat calories if you are on keto.

Micros

The ingredients list for these chips really caught my eye. There are ingredients on both ends of the spectrum for these protein chips. High oleic sunflower oil isn't ideal, nor is corn starch. On the other hand, they use chia seeds, psyllium husk, stevia and a blend of spices for flavoring. I like that they use stevia as their sweetener and that Quest tries to use spices for their flavors instead of an ingredient that would increase the calorie count of these chips.

It seems to me Quest is trying to get quality ingredients into their products, they have a lot of them just in these chips. Personally, I am more macro nutrient focused when I look for quick snacks such as these so I am fine with a few bad ingredients.

Verdict

Buy occasionally. I like these chips primarily for chip cravings while I am on the keto diet. They taste good and they fit within the macros of the keto diet well. You can buy them on amazon and taste them yourself, they are worth a try.
